Of all the texts that have been presented for examination, all texts still use vocabularies that are equivalent to students' abilities and the text usually contains the following topics:

D. Practical Tips for Resolving Reading Comprehension

1. Ordinary Discourse Form

Mentally, you must be sure that you can certainly work on the test you are facing. Test makers must have measured and adapted to high school students. Don't be fooled or feel 'down' first after finding that the text turns out to be too long in your opinion. A whisper to yourself, "If someone else can, then I can do it too!"

You know that the answers to all the questions that are there are certainly in the text itself. So, you don't need to worry.

The problem is the limited time available to solve all the questions. Therefore, we need special tips to deal with it.

How to answer the question? Here are some things you can answer all reading comprehension questions quickly and precisely.

Read in passing all the questions; You don't need to read the available answer options. Just read the question.

Then, read the text carefully, to look for reading passages that relate to the question, but not too long. Remember, time is very limited. Give a sign with a pencil which part is roughly related or can answer the question that you have read before.

Do not stop reading if it turns out you have found a vocabulary that is not understood. Just ignore it, because you can guess the meaning by looking at the sentence in front of it and behind it. While reading earlier, you must remember the type of question. Here are some suggestions for answering the different types of questions.

1. Question: topic of the text
  • You are asked to look for the main object discussed
  • Topic of the text can consist of one word, or a group of very short phrases.
  • In the text, the object is often repeated
  • Usually it can be concluded by looking at a few sentences at the beginning of the text / reading.
  • From the choices available, choose one answer that has the most general meaning (the most general).
2. Question: the main idea

Basically in the form of further description and its very concise nature, about the 'topic of the text' or 'object' talks as mentioned above.

Usually in the form of a group of words (phrases) that are a little longer, and more elaborate (elaborating, giving a little explanation).

Usually in the form of a short clause, in which there are subjects and predicates.

3. Question: conclusion

Conclusion = the conclusion of the translation of the main ideas discussed in the text.

4. Question: cause and reason

Cause and reason = cause and reason
When you read, give a distinctive sign of how that shows cause and effect, or reason and purpose.

5. Question: reference

This kind of question refers to the purpose of one or some of the words contained in the text, or refers to the meaning of a particular expression. To be able to answer correctly, look at some of the sentences that preceded it.

6. Question = True or False

Give an assessment of the form (true) or false (false) relating to the contents of the text.

7. Question = exception

Choose one of the wrong statements between the right ones.
