The Task of Educators in Islamic Education


Basically, educating children is the main task of parents. But then, because of the many limitations that parents have, the process of educating children needs to involve community and educational institutions. Schools, madrasas, and other educational institutions are a place for parents their children's education. Educators in educational institutions carry the mandate of parents in educating their children.

Ordinary people in general, when they see the reality around them occur moral decadence, then usually the first party to blame is an educational institution that is considered a failure in instilling good values ​​to the generation of the nation. Not to forget, the educators did not escape being the object of being blamed for the problems of people's lives such as moral decadence and underdevelopment in the mastery of technology and science. Such an attitude is actually not wise and mature, because those who must play a role and be responsible for children's education are not only educational institutions, but also families and communities.

Educational institutions such as boarding schools, madrasas and communities, have an obligation to succeed in the education of every child. Because after all, every child will be a part of society. In addition, parents are obliged to play an active role from the beginning of the birth of a child in the education process.

In Islam, an educator has the duty to try to develop or actualize all the potential of each individual. Educators in addition to having the task of transferring knowledge to students through the teaching process, are also tasked with internalizing the values, especially the values ​​contained in Islamic teachings. With this task, an educator is not only required to be intellectually intelligent and teach his ability, but also required to be noble as a manifestation of the values ​​that are to be instilled in the students.

High-quality educators can also guarantee the quality of education output, which has the ability to manage and develop all of their potential independently in order to meet a good future.

His tough responsibility and noble duty, make educators occupy an honorable position in Islam. An educator is able to influence and determine the mindset and personality of his students. Even on a broader scale, a good and qualified educator is able to influence and change his students both individually and to the wider community.

The urgency of educators in Islam can be seen in al-Quran verse at-Taubat verse 122 where there Allah commands that some people who learn to deepen knowledge and educate humanity as an effort to elevate the degree of man himself and build a laden world civilization with the universal values ​​of Islamic teachings.

Thus, educators and the act of educating is a mandate from God in order to educate the lives of humanity and direct them to be noble as exemplified by the Messenger of Allah. and obey worship to Him. So from that, because of the magnitude of the responsibility and the nobility of the task of an educator in Islam, an educator is required to have a set of competencies as a condition for maximizing his duties and responsibilities, both pedagogical, social, personality, and professional competencies.
